Venus Transit at Serpent Mound, Tuesday June 5, 5:30 pm
I wanted to let everyone know that we will be gathering at Serpent Mound in Pebbles, Ohio for the upcoming Venus Transit. We will meet at approximately 5:30. I invite everyone to bring food to share so we can enjoy a picnic together at the mound while we watch. We will also enjoy some drumming and other ceremony. Everyone is invited to participate in whatever way they want. It is OUR event and everyone plays an important role.
The Venus Transit is an extremely rare astrological alignment where Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun perfectly on the elliptical plane. For many this is just an interesting event, for others it has tremendous metaphysical and spiritual meaning.
Venus was named for the Goddess of Love and holds within her the energy of the parent, of the lover, of passion. She is known to hold the energies of the divine feminine in the solar system.
The Venus transit was first sited in the 1600′s just as the first telescope was designed, though Venus herself was tracked heavily by the Mayans well before that. The Venus transit was used to determine the placement of the planets in the solar system and was an important player in the advancement in the field of astronomy.
The Venus Transit happens in pairs, 8 years apart. It is the only time it will happen in our lifetime. It will not happen again until 2117. The first of the pair happened in June of 2004. The closing of the pair happens here in the United States on June 5th (it happens on June 6th in other parts of the world.) The transit itself takes approximately 6 hours to happen. Here in the United States we are fortunate that we will be able to see it around sunset. The transit will begin at approximately 6 pm EST. We will be able to see it up until sunset at approximately 8:30. Let’s all pray for clear weather all across the world so people can see it!
If anyone has a telescope, please bring it as it may be difficult to see with the naked eye. I have managed to get some “sunglasses” that can safely be used to look at the sun. I have 10 pair, thanks to the astronomy department at Marietta College. We can share them or you can get your own pair at venustransit.org. They also offer a filter that you can put on your telescope to make it safe to look that way. It is useful anytime you want to look at the sun to see sunspots, etc, not just for the Venus Transit. Its also very affordable. I think its only $10. That being said, you’ll want to order it now to make sure you have it in time.
Also, it seems there will be a very important alignment with Pleiades at this time and it all follows on the heels of both a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse. And it is only a few weeks out of the Summer Solstice. These are powerful days indeed.

There was lots of beautiful imagery in people’s words (flowers, bees, butterflies, light etc.).
We love the way the event is coming together, the Billion Acts of love is flowing freely, that there is no expectation or pressure to “be” something; there is simply space for it to grow and flourish.
There is no right or wrong way to participate in the VT event- simply tune into its energy and as something comes up, share and talk about it. Notice the similarities of what we want; our differences are so minimal.
Recognize and focus on our similarities-don’t let our differences divide us.
