CON 505 Kabbalah: The Enlightened Mind

Instructor Information:
John Van Auken, M.A., is the Director of the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) and author of the book Edgar Cayce and the Kabbalah: A Resource for Soulful Living and the study manual Kabbalah: The Enlightened Mind.
Course Description:
In this course, participants will learn directly from world-renowned author and teacher John Van Auken. Students will learn all of the major elements of Ancient and Classical Kabbalism and its relevance to the soulful life today. Participants will also practice and seek personal enlightenment through journaling, dream journaling, and deep meditation (in the manner of making passage through realms of consciousness using Kabbalah maps, instructor will teach and assist).
Course Topics:
Course topics include God and the Creation, the Tree of Life, the 10 emanations, the 4 planes of existence, the 5 divisions of our being, the 7 heavens, angels, magical incantations, talismans, numerology, planetary influences, ecstasy of God consciousness, and spiritualization of the body, mind, and soul.
Course Requirements:
Participants are required to purchase and study the manual, maintain a personal journal, a dream journal, and regularly meditate using the Kabbalistic style of passage through dimensions of consciousness (taught by the instructor), view and report on the course videos, select two supplemental readings from suggested reading list and write a report, and to participate in course emails, chats, and 4 streaming online forum events with the instructor. Each week a brief report on that week’s course content and the participant’s personal perspective is required. During the first eight weeks, the instructor will give a brief quiz each week on the topics covered. The last four weeks will be for supplemental reading and the participant’s personal experience applying kabbalistic concepts and practices in his or her daily life and reporting on this.
Assessments and Grading:
Grading reports, participation, and quizzes. Students must achieve an overall 70% or higher to pass the course.
Course Schedule:
Students have twelve weeks to complete this fully-integrated online college course.
Student Interaction:
Students will interact directly with John Van Auken throughout this course via the online forum component of the class and via personal messages.
